Dull Beige Home Transformed Into Rainbow House
Jane never cared about the opinion of her neighbors, she kept on working for what made her happy. Jane Gottlieb, 70, invested about 2 months refurnishing her sea view home into a piece of art. The house had 9 different colors on the exterior and a dozen more inside. House maintenance alone costs $5000 (£4,085) a year on the paint job.
Jane’s four-bedroom home always left visitors and passers-by stunned and speechless. They call it the Rainbow House. Her neighbors were not a fan of the house as it didn’t go along their beige estate. Jane mentioned that whenever people visited her house, they smiled instantly as they have never seen anything alike.
Visitors would gasp Oh My God in amusement and always complimented her and her house. She never understood why people liked beige and brown as a famous color combination. Whereas Jane is obsessed with colorful things and whenever something catches her eyes, she needs to have it.
Nobody in the area liked the paint scheme, her bright fanciful art piece didn’t match beige Mediterranean houses. She further mentioned that people called it the rainbow house or the Easter house. People knew about this house already even before she told them about it.
Even the decorators loved working in the rainbow house. She always had new colorful ideas to keep them busy. Adding new things the home is like a never-ending thing for her. Jane and her husband David Obst, the writer moved in 23 years ago. They roughly spent 2 months ripping the extensions and the add-ons to bring out the original design.
The artist mentioned when they first moved into the house was all beige and brown with dull carpets and had extra built-in parts. They had to tear down every corner add-on as the previous owner was not a fan of modern lines. The house was built in 1997 and design was ahead of its time. She wanted to paint out the beautiful lines and corners. She didn’t leave a stone unturned, no room has the original color from before the redecorations.
Jane started her career 35 years ago and she got fame for hand-painting on Cibachrome prints. Jane became a Photoshop pioneer when she started using the computer to create her magical artwork. The artist fine prints are displayed all over the world. Got internationally famous along with other renowned pop artists such as Andy Warhol and Roy Lichtenstein.
The house is the biggest art piece she has ever created. It not just a home to her, David and dogs, Popcorn, Pepper, Freddie, and Lulu. Purple and blue are the dominating colors on the outside with yellows and greens. But out of all rooms, her studio or her purple living room is her favorite as it looks out to the pool and has an ocean view.
They decorated it with Italian furniture. It was a 3D art piece, making it a great place, which she was always proud of. Jane simply loved living in that house.
