Man Makes People Nostalgic With A Video Rental Store In His Home

A woman with user name @Thevideobunker posted a video on social media website TikTok. In the video, the woman displayed her basement cum video rental store that was created by her husband during the lockdown. The entrance of the rental store had an ‘Open’ sign in the window that was covered with bright neon pink light, while the wall around the window had brickwork.

Inside the store, there were passages of shelves that were filled with different films. And the posters and mementos on the wall made the entire shop way more special. There were yellow signs on the floor with genre names that helped in directing the customers. There was even a front desk to make payments and to pick up some snacks.

The main area in the rental shop had many racks with DVDs, Blu-ray disks as well as a lot of casual movie tapes that the woman’s husband had bought randomly.

There was also a ‘viewing room’ somewhere in the store that had television screens, two comfortable reclining armchairs, walls of VHS tapes and some old – fashioned gaming consoles.

The woman confessed that at the beginning of the quarantine, last year, the family had to close their local video. On top of that her husband had a lot of time in his hands due to the pandemic and the everlasting lockdown. He felt that he needed a project that he could complete at his home to keep himself occupied. He also had some plans cooking in his head. So, he decided to build his video rental store rather than refurnishing the kitchen cabinets and other cupboards.

The video went viral and gained nearly 4 million views. People showered love on the video as they really liked the store’s concept. A user commented that it was the coolest thing he had ever seen in his whole life. A second person said that it was literally his dream and he wanted to do the exact same thing. Another comment read “Oh, the nostalgia!”. Someone humorously asked that were there any other employees in the shop.
